We’re back with some fresh blood for the Summer and starting us off is Jenny, NiceShirt.org designer and warm weather enthusiast! 

Hi! I’m Jenny. I started working for NiceShirt.org in May as a Designer.

Last year I did a co-op with The BG News, which featured a story about NiceShirt a few months after it launched. When I read the article, I saw that Wes, who was my Teaching Assistant freshman year, happened to be a co-founder. I then looked into the company and was immediately interested in the concept and what they stood for, and knew I wanted to join! My favorite thing about working is the company culture and the casual, welcoming atmosphere. Being a part of the team so far has been a rewarding experience, and I can’t wait to see how my talents can continue to help others. 

Outside of NiceShirt, I am an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma here at BGSU and it has been a life changing experience. I have made amazing friendships with my sisters and roommates that I wouldn’t change for the world. Kappa has encouraged me to step out my comfort zone and try new things. I started designing shirts last year when I became the sorority’s t-shirt chair, and so far it has been a lot of fun! 

I mostly spend my free time with family and friends. Other things I enjoy are eating (Italian is my favorite,) social media, impulse shopping, warm weather and sunshine, and of course sleeping in. I am very laid back yet I can be witty at times, and I truly appreciate anything that can make me laugh. My career goals are to use my creativity somewhere in the Advertising field or being a graphic designer for a magazine.

Hello! I’m the co-founder at NiceShirt.org. I work primarily in the Great Lakes Office and focus on Accounting/Finance, HR, Marketing and Partnership Development.

I graduated from BGSU in May of 2012 with a BSBA in Marketing and a minor in Entrepreneurship. During my time at BGSU, I was an active member of the university community. I was instrumental in the creation of the BGSU Net Impact chapter which received ‘Gold Status’ Honors- the only chapter in the world to earn this esteemed award in their first year. I also served on the BGSU Board of Trustees as a Student Trustee and was a member of the team that represented the United States in an international business sustainability competition in Hong Kong.

I lived in Shanghai, China in 2008 where I studied Mandarin for 8 weeks, and was the curator of the 2011, sold-out TEDxBGSU, the first of its kind in the state of Ohio. In 2011, I traveled to India and Kenya on a Givens Fellowship to work closely with practitioners of sustainably-minded poverty alleviation. I’m also currently the youngest member of the BGSU President’s Club and the Leadership Circle.

I’m a tennis player, a helicopter pilot, and I’m currently training for my fixed wing rating. When I’m not flying, I enjoy juicing, wine tasting and EatPastry Vegan Cookie Dough (chocolate chip is the best, www.eatpastry.com) and I’m intrigued by the idea of minimalism.

Hey!

My name is Gabriel and I happen to be on the marketing team at Niceshirt.org. At NiceShirt, my role is to make the company wholesome from the bones up. A lot of companies say that they do good things because they understand that this is what many consumers want in a company, like a superhero you can vote for with your dollars. My role is to find and facilitate ways in which we can be that superhero for our customers, employees, and our industry.

At the moment, I am working on accurately measuring our company’s baseline carbon-footprint. This can be done using 3 different scopes, both direct and indirect, depending on your connection to how the energy is being used. Also, the lifecycle of our apparel is a really big deal. We are looking into ways of creating a cradle-to-cradle design process for our products, letting apparel become apparel.

Favorite things about working here?

- The community is really lively, and I feel like I can have fun at work while being super productive.
- The autonomy of my role lets me be a major part of the creation of ideas, so I feel like I can really give myself to my work.

I work with the marketing team, and in March Eric voted me in as “Top Handsy Boy of the Month.”  I have worked here for 8 months. I love dancing, making stuff with my hands, hearing good stories, and exploring new cultures.

Hi! My name is Andrea, and I am a member of the design team. I started working here in January and I wish I could work here forever. Not only do I get to design shirts, I also have other responsibilities like working with our wonderful customers an account executive and customer service representative. I love working here because I get to combine two things I love the most, design and service. Unfortunately, I have to graduate from Bowling Green State University this May. After graduation I will be moving to Denver, CO! I hope to visit as many breweries and Nuggets games as possible. I also hope to find a new outdoorsy hobby with my dog! That’s what I hear Denver is all about, dogs, the outdoors and of course the Broncos.

What I like to do in my spare time in Bowling Green, OH is hang out with my Chi Omega sorority sisters, belt out and pretend I can sing to Usher (he’s my fav) and watch Netflix (currently and continuously watching West Wing and 30 Rock). Speaking of West Wing, it is a dream of mine to one day work at the White House. I would specifically like to be a secretary like Donna Moss from West Wing. But if one day I became the First Lady instead, I would be still be happy.

Hi there! I’m Kelsey. I’m on the design team here at NiceShirt.org. I was a full time intern here last semester and have now switched to part time so I can take classes at Bowling Green State University. It has not been a very fun transition because I’d much rather be in the amazing NiceShirt office than sitting in boring classes.

There are a lot of amazing campaigns that have been done while I’ve been here so it’s hard to pick just one as my favorite. There is however one that holds a special place in my heart, the Cory Jones Campaign. This campaign was one of my first assignments when I started, it was for a man that was in need of a kidney transplant and wanted to raise money for his surgery and treatment as well as raise awareness for kidney diseases and live organ donation.

When I’m not in the NiceShirt office, if I’m not succumbing to my diet coke addiction, I love taking photos. Luckily I have two crazy roommates that are willing to let me photograph them in any type of situation, like, climbing a tree in five inch heals or wearing crazy weird makeup and being in public places. I’m originally from Cincinnati so I’m a huge Cincinnati Reds fan and in the summer I try to go to as many games as possible or at least watch them on TV. I love you Joey Votto!

Behind The Scenes will be a weekly showcase on a different member of our team every Thursday! The spotlight is on Emily this week, NiceShirt’s professional Quidditch star!

Hey! My name is Emily Little and I am a member of the marketing team here at Niceshirt.org. I started working here in January and since then I’ve worked on a ton of different projects. Everything from collecting and interpreting data from our previous campaigns to helping to develop a post purchase plan to pulling together DIY t-shirt crafts for our T-cycle program (check it out its pretty cool ;). Working at Niceshirt.org has really opened my eyes to the world of fundraising for causes both big and small, and it’s a great feeling going into work knowing that you are there to make the world a nicer place! Currently I’m working on our first multiple family campaign to raise money for Neurblastoma (a childhood cancer) Research, and I can’t wait until the campaign goes up the design looks fantastic and it’s for an awesome cause!

Outside of Niceshirt.org I’m a freshman at Bowling Green State University majoring sociology and minor-ing in philosophy. I’m a member of the honors program, the honors learning community and the BG Mauraders (a Harry Potter Club of course). Mostly I do homework and sleep but in my very little spare time you’ll either find me on the side of the pitch cheering on my friends at a Quidditch match or curled up on my futon watching an action movie. I watch How I Met Your Mother, Doctor Who, Supernatural, and Sherlock whenever I can get the chance (so while doing math homework haha), and have a wall full of my favorite Harry Potter quotes. So I pretty much a nerd, but hey I’m happy! ;)

Hey! I’m Kari Linn and I’m part of the design team at NiceShirt.org, and I am proud of it! I started working here in January and so far the experience has been incredible. I’ve been able to test my design skills on a number of different projects so far, and not just on t-shirts, but web projects as well. I wouldn’t trade this opportunity for anything!

Besides being part of the NiceShirt.org team, I enough being a part of a number of organizations on BGSU’s campus. Organizations like the honorary band fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi, BGSU’s athletic bands, and the falcon marching band. So yes, I’m obviously a huge band geek, and I’m ok with that!

In addition to that, I also enjoy spending my time expanding my photography skills, watching a good movie from time to time, and spending time with my friends and family. I’m also a huge dog person, and when I go home to visit my family, I constantly have to be cuddling one of my dogs because I miss them entirely way too much.

Hey! I’m Alecia Hitchman, I am a part of the Operations and Marketing Team at NiceShirt.org! I will try to describe the details of my job to the best of my ability, but fortunately I pretty much get to do something different single everyday! I took interest in what Skyler and Wes were doing toward the beginning of the start of the company.  I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and I absolutely love what NiceShirt.org stands for, so naturally I wanted to join in on the fun! I started working here in August of 2012 and like I said, no two days are the same. I’ve learned new programs to help automate our processes, challenged my managerial skills to head our new Ambassador Program, and have learned new skills to develop and established our training program. But best of all, I get to work with the Nicest people!

Outside of NiceShirt.org, I am a follower of Christ, who by grace has saved me. I’m in my last semester finishing up my BSBA in Marketing. At BGSU I am a part of several organizations, like the BGSU Tour Guide program, Cru, and Venus. On top of that I enjoy running and working out, singing (most of the time I don’t even know I am singing), playing piano, and working on random DIY projects.  And most likely you will never see me without a cup of coffee in my hand.

Hi! My name is Amanda Zavatchan and I am proud to be a part of the design team at NiceShirt.org! I started working here in August and since then have been able to grow as a designer and continuously see amazing things taking place within the company. The office has a very positive atmosphere and the various stories from the organizations we help make my work so much more meaningful. As I continue to be a part of a great team, I look forward to what else comes from our hard efforts!

Besides being a part of NiceShirt.org, I always love being a part of something bigger. This is why I have joined various organizations such as Sigma Kappa, University Dance Alliance, and Dance Marathon. I am a proud member of each of these organizations and they have given me so much throughout my college career.

Outside of school and work, I have always been passionate in dance and the piano. I also enjoy the whole movie theater experience even if it ends up not being a great movie; however, there are very few movies that I’ll say I don’t like.  I love food and am willing to try just about anything; at the moment my best venture has been sushi and worst would be black pudding.

I’ve already started quite a long bucket list and am determined to accomplish as many as I can. Just some of them are: live in an area for a period of time where English is not the first language, start a business, become a yearly contributor to a certain charity, and participate in a marathon. I’ve got a lot of goals but I’m ready to do as many as I can!

Behind The Scenes will be a weekly showcase on a different member of our team every Thursday! Meet Brooke, aspiring Hogwarts student!

I’m Brooke and I’m on the Marketing Team here at NiceShirt.org! I started here in January and have since been responsible for finding conferences, conventions, and job fairs for the company to make an appearance at. I have also worked on promotional strategies, a new recruitment process for interns, and some marketing materials. I love working here at NiceShirt.org, it’s a great work environment and I get the satisfaction of knowing that I am helping others.

As far as my free time goes, it depends on the temperature as to where you can find me.  When it’s cold, so 55 or below for me, I’ll spend most of my time curled up in my Snuggie drinking tea and watching Jeopardy or Hulu Plus. If the sun decides to make an appearance I’ll go to a Farmers Market or find some sort of festival. I am always looking for a cute new shop to peruse through and I will never say no to a good game of cricket. I love to cook and even though I am Gluten-Intolerant I can still be found eating pizza or a gyro. I’m also a huge fan of Harry Potter, the books, and plan on getting a Phoenix tattoo once I graduate.
